To my sister Theresa Smith: you have been the best sister and best friend anyone could hope for and I am extraordinarily grateful for your constant love, support and courage. And of course, the strange way I pronounced ‘cabinet’. Thank you for the fun, the laughter, the love and the patience and tolerance while learning all the new rules and traditions – no shoes, but lots of paper towel and plastic bags. To my other children Jamie Smidt (Janna Flasch), Amanda Panciera (Anthony) and Nathan Smidt (Katrina): I am so grateful to have been part of our amazing blended family. Always remember: Nothing changes if nothing changes. To my son Andrew (Stenberg): I am so proud of you and know even greater things await you. We fit a lot of life in these 13 years – not nearly enough – but I am so grateful for every day we had together. You are my rock and I would never be able to adequately express how much your love and support have meant to me. Yet, I am grateful for the nearly 59 years I did have and for all of the amazing experiences and adventures along the way. I’m so sad to leave this life and the people I love.
